I have been getting a lot of questions lately about our snowpack and riding conditions. I can't predict with any certainty, how long this snowkite season will last, I can however tell you that we have plenty of snow and expect to ride late into the spring. Here is some video that Ryan Waite and I took yesterday. This had to be a top 10 day for both of us. See any snow?

My favorite time of the year to kite is spring time. I'm getting a little tired of the cold and can't wait for Spring to turn her head this direction. Negative 9 wind chill this morning. What does all this mean? It means that the best is still ahead. Nothing wrong with fresh powder at the end of March. The fences are completely covered and more snow is expected tonight. I see this season going strong through April and into May. The local resorts are all closing soon, despite a health snow pack. Needless to say, season pass holders who spent $2,000 are furious. Kiters who spent 1/2 that are looking forward to a long fruitful spring and great riding conditions. Bonus, my investment works year round in both snow and water. Life is good. See you kiting!

Thank you to all that attended Kite Soldiers. I have never seen so many kites in the sky. Riders from all over the country represented snowkiting this weekend in Idaho. I met people from Chicago, Kentucky, California, Hood River, Bend Oregon, Seattle, Montana, Utah, Florida and many other places not to mention a great local turnout. Those of you who arrived Friday were able to enjoy strong East winds blowing around 20. Saturday, I changed the event location and made a few phone calls to the man turning the wind faucet. He was reluctant at first and thought we would settle for sun and blue sky's. It took some convincing but when I told him about the amazing turnout and enthusiasm, he turned on the wind. We had 65 kiters registered for Kite Soldiers and enjoyed a steady 15-20 east wind well into dusk. The GPS backcountry course took riders to a series of checkpoints, starting with several large hill climbs, the riders then had to negociate some large rock formations and a few miles into the course found...
