This last strom looked like a massive system and hopes were high that it would deliver snow measured in feet, not inches. Looking around the state at each ski area, I noticed that most ski areas only received 4 inches and some a wooping 8 inches, hardly enough to write about. I drove through the Camas Valley yesterday and am pleased to announce that this strom hit the Camas and hit it hard. I'm not sure how much snow we recieved but we are measuring it as several feet, perhaps more. Everything is covered, the snow is light and kiting this year is officially epic. Read More »

I heard reports yesterday that the snowkite season is underway and that this years opening day was the best season opener yet. There are still places that need more coverage but with so much terrain to choose from it doesn't seem to matter. Over 20 kiters went to play in the Camas yesterday with lots of postive reports. We have a great base built up and are looking ahead to an amazing winter season. Happy Holidays everyone! Read More »

I recently got this email from some ripping snowkite kiters in Canada. They have been riding here in Idaho for the last week. They were nice enough to send me a video of their advenure. Here is Grant's deiscirption: 4 Canucks having a blast on week long trip to this amazing snowkite zone near Fairfield, Idaho. Worth the 20 hour drive! So much wind, so many options. This is a sport with so much potential. Read More »

I have been getting a lot of questions lately about our snowpack and riding conditions. I can't predict with any certainty, how long this snowkite season will last, I can however tell you that we have plenty of snow and expect to ride late into the spring. Here is some video that Ryan Waite and I took yesterday. This had to be a top 10 day for both of us. See any snow?
My favorite time of the year to kite is spring time. I'm getting a little tired of the cold and can't wait for Spring to turn her head this direction. Negative 9 wind chill this morning. What does all this mean? It means that the best is still ahead. Nothing wrong with fresh powder at the end of March. The fences are completely covered and more snow is expected tonight. I see this season going strong through April and into May. The local resorts are all closing soon, despite a health snow pack. Needless to say, season pass holders who spent $2,000 are furious. Kiters who spent 1/2 that are looking forward to a long fruitful spring and great riding conditions. Bonus, my investment works year round in both snow and water. Life is good. See you kiting!
