This place is looking more like the moon every day. The storms are rolling through one at a time. I am seeing many new kite faces on the scene this year. This video above was shot by Jclive Jordon and was taken a week ago before the storms started nailing us. I'm seeing wind blown features that are so big, I can barely kite over them. I'm referring to wind blown cornices that are 8 feet deep. Just because the snow is deep doesn't mean the fences are gone. Our avalanche danger is at an all time high this year. I'm seeing slides in areas that I would never expect it. This tells me to be careful and be smart. Can a kite pull me out of an avalanche. I don't know and don't plan on finding out...but I think it could:)
If your planning on coming out for our snowkite event this year, please register early. This saves you money and helps us plan. If you have not nailed down your accommodation, do so ASAP. If things are booked up, contact me and I'll help you find a spot. The event website: www.snowkiteevvent.com lists our current lodging options.
