This blog is a long time coming. This area is amazing for snowkiting. Some might argue the best roadside snowkiting in the country and I wouldn't fight them on that point. Some things you might want to know before coming out to snowkite in Idaho.
Access is always an issue with snowkiting. We want to keep this sport alive, safe and fun. Roadside kiting is a luxury and also a hazard.

*Please do not launch or land your kite on any roads. Especially goes for highways. Be smart. No one likes walking through deep snow to set up a kite but if faced between choosing access and not having snowkite access, it is a no brainer...walk away from the road and away from fences to set up your gear.
* If you are just learning how to snowkite or are unsure about where to snowkite and think you need assistance, please take a lesson or at the very least introduce your self and ask for advice. Lessons are not a get rich scheme. These services are in place because this sport is extreme and hard to learn, so take advantage. If your new to kiting and spent $700 for a used kite on the internet, ask a professional for help because the money you think you're saving on a lesson you'll most likely spend on kite repairs. The best advice I can give to those learning this sport is to choose a location that has lots of room and no obstacles, this includes other kiters, fences and roads. Removing dangerous hazards keeps you safe, other kiters happy and will set a good example for other new comers to this sport. We are all ambassadors for snowkiting.

*If you're not kiting, wrap up your lines. Enough said.

*Kite launching areas are congested because no one wants to walk further then the last guy through 3 feet of snow to set up a kite. If you don't like walking then try getting up early.

*Anywhere you see people launching kites is not an area to ride in. There are thousands of square miles of riding just beyond your kite lines. (SULAX) Set up, launch and Explore. If your new to the sport, try to avoid these congested areas because chances are that you don't have the kite control necessary to maneuver through other kiters. Not your fault, just a reality. You never know who's kite lines you may have accidently run over. Some snowkiters are getting hundreds of feet in the air. Running over someone's lines may put the wheels in motion for a broken line and no one wants to worry their gear failing, especially at these heights.

Just remember, snowmobilers were here first. The reason we have public bathrooms and a warming hut is because they put them there. Be courteous , nice and smart. Everyone loves watching you snowkite. Your audience could be the car that almost hit you, the snowmobiler that ran over your lines or the fellow kiter that you almost ran into. My point, your biggest fans are all around you. Treat your fans with respect..
